Whole 30

Dear Stomach,

We’re going on a retreat. Not forever, just a few days…30 to be exact. Trust me, it’s gonna be great!

All you two have to do is sit back, relax, and digest all these beautiful nutrients: colorful vegetables, sweet fruits, succulent proteins, and glorious GLOURIOUS natural fats! You’ll be freed from all the foods that assault you and your well-being (i.e. sugar, dairy, legumes, and grains).

It’s not that you’re unhealthy or anything. You get home-cooked meals and local produce. But you sometimes at random we don’t feel too hot and don’t know why. What’s with the bloating and cramps and bad acne? So, a little detective work is in order, PLUS I thought it’d be nice to really start fresh this new year.

At FunkyFoods we dare to eat, so why not dare to eat Whole30? We’ll still experiment with fun ingredients and recipes, but they’ll be Whole30-approved. What a challenge, huh?

When you return from this retreat, you’ll feel like a brand spankin’ new stomach! And I’ll feel like a new person full of renewed energy and life (at least that’s the expectation). It’s a short-term diet for long-term learning. I want us to learn something about ourselves together and come away with new habits we’ll hopefully stick with.

Of course, we’ll get to eat chocolate, bread, peanut butter, and wine again. But I imagine we’ll eat them with a new perspective.

I’m doing this because I love you and want you to feel the best you can possibly feel! I think it will be an awesome adventure.

Lots of love & whole foods,

Tess <3

PS I was thoughtful enough to convince a buddy to go along with us! Our sister, Chloé! Two stomachs are better than one…right?
